bike and walking trails

There are 15 miles of trails in the City. The Sand Creek Regional Greenway connects the High Line Canal in Aurora with the South Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. Sand Creek is a wide, high plains prairie stream lined with cottonwood trees, willows and patches of native prairie.

As the Sand Creek Regional Greenway meanders through the City, it creates an urban sanctuary for people and animals alike. Many kinds of wildlife can be observed, including deer, fox, beaver, heron, egret, owl and a variety of other species. The trail completes a loop of 50 miles of off-street urban trails in the northeast metro Denver area.
