Capital improvement projects are defined as “non-recurring major projects.” In general, these projects include building improvements costing $100,000 or more or any public infrastructure improvements costing $10,000 or more.

Second Creek Neighborhood Park Development
Description: Second Creek Neighborhood Park will be located between Second Creek Elementary and the future Stuart Middle School
Cost: $200,000 has been budgeted for this project

Stampede Park Drainage Improvements
Description:  This project will correct some drainage problems in the turf areas.  A perforated pipe will be installed to capture water and pipe it to the existing drainage swale. Any damaged turf will be removed and replaced.
Cost: $14,000 has been budgeted for this project

Joe Reilly Park Redevelopment
Description: The Derby area is currently under a redevelopment process and as a part of this Joe Reilly Park will be redeveloped as it relates to the overall design of the surrounding area.
Purpose: This will greatly enhance this area and create a gathering place for the community to use for multiple outdoor functions.
Cost: In 2007 $20,000 was appropriated for this project. $10,000 in additional funds will allow for the improvements as designed in the master plan of the area.

Leyden Park Improvements
Description: This project will replace the final playground needed to complete the upgrade of all playground equipment. Additional landscaping, benches and a shelter will also be added.
Cost: $32,000 has been budgeted for this project.

Monaco Park Irrigation and Improvements
Description: The irrigation system will be replaced with updated water efficient equipment allowing watering during evening hours, reducing maintenance, reducing water usage and linking the system to the City’s computerized central control system.
The wood border surrounding the volleyball courts will be replaced with concrete.
The restroom facility will be replaced with an upgraded model that will reduce maintenance and improve the facility to better serve the community.

Monaco Vista Park Improvements
Description: The asphalt path and crusher fine surface in the basketball court will be replaced with concrete.
Cost: $15,000 has been budgeted for this project.

Off-leash Dog Park
Description: Numerous requests have been received for an off-leash dog park.  This project will develop this park on city-owned property at approximately 104th and Havana. The park will be fenced and a parking area, trash receptacles, pet waste bag dispensers, benches, small shade structures and a drinking fountain will be provided.
Cost: $40,000 has been budgeted for this project.

Playground ADA Accessibility Ramps
Description: The surface material in all City playgrounds is currently ADA accessible, but all playgrounds do not yet have accessibility ramps. Installing ramps will allow easier access into these play areas.
Cost: $22,000 has been budgeted for this project.

River Run Park Irrigation Improvements
Description: This project will allow for improvements to the existing irrigation components to allow the system to operate more effectively and provide better controller programming flexibility.
Cost: $75,000 has been budgeted for this project.
