description

The I-70 East Project is an environmental study that will identify highway improvements along I-70 between Interstate 25 and Tower Road. The study, known as an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), is required before any major federally-funded transportation project can be built and ensures that issues affecting the community and the environment are identified and considered before making a final decision. The project will release a draft version of the study this summer, which explains different alignment options and costs. Find out more about the study at www.i-70east.com.

Purpose

The purpose of the I-70 EIS is to implement a transportation solution that improves safety, access, mobility and addresses congestion on I-70. The need for this project results from the following issues:

- Expansive population growth

- Limited transportation capacity

- Safety concerns

- Transportation infrastructure deficiencies
