Division: Administration & Information
Special Operations is responsible for the department’s response to community or department events with manpower and logistical requirements that are above and beyond those of our standard duties. Major events require intensive planning, staffing, and equipment for the event to occur safely, successfully, and with minimal adverse impact to the general public.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
Planning the staffing and equipment needs for events at this new venue is a major component of Special Operations. Between the 18,000 seat soccer stadium, and the largest outdoor sports complex in the country, this venue is capable of attracting tens of thousands of visitors in a single day for various events. For a major soccer tournament followed by a Colorado Rapids game, this complex can easily see 25,000-30,000 people throughout the day. That is a small city in one location which has impacts to traffic and increased calls for police service.
