Street Crime Attack Team (SCAT)
Division: Support Operations
Unit Objective
It is the mission of the Street Crime Attack Team (SCAT) unit to address criminal activity and statistical trends that have a negative impact on the quality of life for the citizens of Commerce City. It is also the goal of the unit to concentrate on specific areas of investigation that present a drain on patrol and investigation division resources. Through applying creative and advanced technical resources, the SCAT unit provides supplementary support that concentrates law enforcement efforts toward achieving long-term problem resolution through a collaborative effort with the community, business/special interest groups, city employees and peer groups throughout the police department.
Graffiti Response and SCAT
In response to significant increases in graffiti, the SCAT unit has attended training on graffiti evaluation and enforcement to become educated on the types of graffiti impacting the city. The unit has completed statistical analysis of current trends associated with reports taken by Neighborhood Services and the police department. In addition to charges surrounding the graffiti, those arrested could be charged with property damage amounts in the felony range.
Graffiti Hotline: 303.289.3706
The Commerce City Police Department offers a reward up to $250 for information leading to the arrest and conviction in graffiti cases.
