What we do

The Professional Standards Unit ensures professionalism within the department. The unit handles internal investigations surrounding alleged misconduct of Commerce City police department employees, administrative investigations surrounding use of force issues, training, recruiting and off-duty employment monitoring and scheduling.

Internal Investigations
The department accepts complaints from any source, including juvenile, anonymous and intoxicated individual complainants. Each complaint is assessed and forwarded to the Chief of Police for assignment or classification.

Recruiting
