Patrol
Patrol operations consists of patrol officers and sergeants. These are the most visible members of the department. These are the members of our department that are driving marked patrol cars and are in uniform. They are working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week answering the calls placed by citizens and proactively identifying areas that need police attention.
Patrol Districts
The city is organized into four patrol districts that cover the City’s 45 square miles. The districting was established based upon the number of calls for service and the geographical characteristics of the city.
Patrol Platoons
Patrol is divided into two platoons. Half of the officers work Sunday through Wednesday and the other half work Wednesday through Saturday. This schedule allows for an intensive in-service training program that occurs on Wednesdays without impacting scheduling and the service to the community.
