Municipal Code & Ordinances
Commerce City, Colorado is a Home Rule City. Home Rule means City Council can determine the local laws within the City limits. As laws (ordinances) are passed, they are put into the City Municipal Code book. The Municipal Code is updated four times a year and posted to the City's Web site. New ordinances are posted on the Web site as they are introduced.

- Ordinance is posted in 10 approved posting locations within the City
- Ordinance is published in a local newspaper
- Ordinance becomes effective 5 days after its publication
