Ask c3gov - Taxes - Due Dates

When are my taxes due?
All taxes are due on the 20th of the month following the reporting period. For example, taxes for the month of June are due by July 20th. Taxes for the quarter ending March 31st are due on April 20th. Sales tax returns must be U.S. postmarked by the 20th of the month to qualify for the vendor’s fee discount.

What if I do not file on time?
If you fail to file your return on time, you must add 10.00% of the total tax due to your remittance as a penalty. Interest charges must also be added at the rate of .750% per month for each month the remittance is late.

What determines if I file monthly or quarterly?
A business must file monthly if the sales tax collections are greater than $50.00 per month. If sales tax collections are greater than $10.00 but less than $50.00 the business needs to file quarterly.
